OPPOSITION: Jeffrey D. Woodard, 35, Oakland

Tsunami fund-raiser a fraud, police say - Pittsburgh Oakland man seeks Wagner's seat

Jeff Woodard, 35, of Oakland, has announced his candidacy for the state Senate post that was vacated by state Auditor General Jack Wagner, a Beechview Democrat.

Woodard, a constable and Democratic committeeman, is seeking the Democratic nomination in a special election for a successor to complete about two years remaining on Wagner's term in the 42nd Senatorial District. Several other Democrats are considering the race. Wagner was elected auditor general in November.

Democrats will vote for a nominee for the post at the party's endorsements meeting on Feb. 27. The special election is May 17, the same day as the primary.

Woodard is now trying to get onto the ballot.

I am in this race and on the ballot.

Woodard ran for Register of Wills a few years ago and lost.

Eileen Wagner is going to be the candidate for the Democrats.
