Ron Paul’s fundraising shocks political circles. He is the real deal.

CNN.com - CNN Political Ticker Paul’s fundraising shock : "WASHINGTON (CNN) – He's locked in low single digits in most polls, but Texas Rep. Ron Paul raised more than $5 million for his presidential bid in the third quarter, roughly equal to or just short of several of his higher -profile rivals.

'Dr. Paul's message is freedom, peace and prosperity,' Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder said in a statement announcing the total. 'As these fundraising numbers show, more Americans each day are embracing Dr. Paul's message.'

Paul's fundraising total is a 114-percent increase over what he raised last quarter and is also only $2 million shy of what Democratic White House hopeful John Edwards raised during the same period. It is also roughly equal to the fundraising totals of Arizona Sen. John McCain and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson."

You have to take into account that Ron Paul is the only one who actually improved on his Q2 numbers.
Paul: Fundraising up 114%
Romney: Fundraising down 29%
Guilliani: Fundraising down 40%
McCain: Fundraising down 55%

And I think he'll be fairly high in Cash on hand…since going into Q4 he has $5,300,000 Cash on hand which should be higher than even Mit once you take out all the debt he has.

I like Paul but I don't think he can win. I am kind of surprised by his cash numbers but not really.

John K. says: Ron Paul should never be President. Why is he a Republican when he ran for President as a Libertarian? Because he learned, as Pat Buchanon learned, that you need access to the money and the grass roots that an established political party gives you. He should run on principle but principle does not provide the funds for a presidential run. Once again, just ask Buchanon. But what if he were elected and we pulled out of everywhere with our troops. The bloodbath follows. And who gets the blame, why the Republicans because after all Mr. Paul is a Republican. Does Ron Paul care, no. Why should he, he is a Libertarian. So if oil prices surge and our enemies take advantage of the situation, who is left with the blame. Why the Republicans. If Ron Paul is going to run let him run as a Libertarian. Let him hold true to his principles. After all Buchanon did and look what it got him. A steady gig trashing everyone else on MSNBC.

John K -- way to go. A new idea from you. I'm impressed. Keep it up.

Now to unravel the falsehoods.

Principles can account for money. Ron Paul's funding totals are going up and up. Meanwhile, the other Rs are going down and down.

Plus, Ron Paul, Republican, has been a 10-term member of the US Congress as a "R". Three times in his career he won while not being an incumbent (district changes, etc.).

Once he ran as a L -- and that makes him MORE QUALIFIED. It does not disqualify him as a candidate.

The bloodbath that you predict after we depart the battlefield is bogus.

Other (like you perhaps) made the prediction that the Iraq war would be a simple thing.

The blood of US service people would not flow after we left.

I think that they'll settle their own matters better than what we can do with our force and might. It isn't working. It won't work.

Vietnam has healed -- in that blood is not flowing there now.

John K. says: Oops on the fundraising. Update 3rd Qtr results: Guilani 11 million/ Romney 10 million and McCain raised 6 million. Much more than 5 million. Point being, if you get an F at the mid term and B in the final. While the rest of the class got B's at the midterm and A's at the final, running up and down the hallway proclaiming some type of victory is odd behavior.

How is cash on hand?

John K. says: And Thompson raised 9.3 million. Cash on hand is moot. Just means you do not know how to spend it properly. It is not effective to run for office and brag about all the money you have in the bank. That gets you no publicity. Ron Paul is a nut who never thinks thru the consequences of his actions. Pat Buchanon is the same way.

Cash on hand is moot is one of the most silly statements I have ever seen.

Potential is important.

Cash on hand at the end of an election, like what John Kerry did, is silly. But, going into the last 100 days -- cash on hand is very important.
