We are excited to announce that we have launched new programs for kids ages 8 to 16 at TechShop Pittsburgh!

Hi Mark... We are excited to launch after-school and weekend Youth Programs at TechShop Pittsburgh! Offered as part of our STEAM curriculum, our youth sessions and clubs are open to students ages 8 to 16 with varying levels of experience as makers. Design + Build Afterschool Saturday Maker Studio Sunday Prototyping Club Community and School-Based Sessions Our youth programs guide students through the engineering design process using laser cutters and 3D printers. Students will learn the process of identifying a problem, brainstorming, prototyping and iterative design before refining their CAD (computer aided design) skills in Autodesk and Adobe software. All students will leave with a project of their own design, aimed at solving a problem in their everyday life. Previous examples include building alarm clocks, designing and laser cutting lamps, and modeling then 3D printing chess sets.  DESIGN + BUILD AFTERSCHOOL Design + Build Afterschool Tuesdays & Thursdays for 4 weeks 3:30PM–6:30PM Next session starts November 24 Design + Build Afterschool introduces young innovators to the engineering design process using laser cutters and 3D printers. UPCOMING YOUTH OPPORTUNITIES Saturday Maker Studio November 14 & December 12, 2015 Noon–4:00PM During this drop-in maker studio, youth can utilize equipment at TechShop alongside a Dream Consultant. Studio time is available for all youth ages 8–16. Although no parental supervision is necessary, parents are welcome to participate! Cost includes time and materials for one session. Sunday Prototyping Club November 16–December 5, 2015 Noon–3:00PM Sunday Prototyping Club introduces young innovators to the engineering design process using laser cutters and 3D printers. All students will complete a project of their own design and will be certified to use the laser cutters and the Printrbots at TechShop after attending all club sessions. Club meets every Sunday for 4 weeks. TechShop at Your School Bring TechShop to your school! We offer community and school-based programs ranging from one-time workshops to weekly programming that is tailored to your needs.
