A press conference announcing this legislation will be held on the Capitol Steps in Harrisburg on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at 9:00 AM.

This landmark legislation, to be introduced by Rep. Daryl Metcalfe and Sen. John Pippy, will keep those who defend themselves with firearms from being further victimized by government for their own self-defense. It will also end firearms registration for law abiding citizens. Guest speakers at the event will be Mr. Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America and Dr. John Lott, a nationally recognized scholar on gun control.

Chuck Moulton, LPPA Chair, remarked, “We call on Pennsylvanians to meet at the Capitol steps in Harrisburg on Tuesday, March 14th to support their self-defense rights. The right to bear arms for defense should never be questioned.”

Kim Stolfer, Chair of Firearms Owners Against Crime, a sponsor of the event, added, “At the close of the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787, as Benjamin Franklin emerged from the long task he was asked: "Well Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?" "A republic if you can keep it" he responded. On March 14th 2006 PA Gun Owners will stand together in the capitol to restate our belief in our Freedoms and to end these prejudicial extensions of government into our lives.”

Doug Leard, LPPA Media Secretary added, “Contact your state legislators and insist on ending gun registration and ending the criminalization of self-defense.”

The Libertarian Party is the third largest political party in the United States with over 600 officials serving in office throughout the nation.
