People tend to forget that Rendell signed the pay
raise bill and is as much a part of the corruption in Harrisburg as
anyone else, probably worse.

Among our members are citizens who are running against incumbents.
Russ is a member ,citizen, and the founder of this group who may be
willing to take on the biggest fish of them all. How that would
cheapen the reform movement is beyond me.

Lynn Swann is good man, but a puppet for the Republican side of the
corruption. He is running and supported only because he is a famous
celebrity with no political ideas other than what's whispered in his
ear. If he did not have a convicted felon strong-arming the state
committee and Jubes and Brightbill clinging to him like he's a
walking novelty check he would not even made it through a primary.
And Mr. Bumstead has the nerve to suggest Russ is an opportunist??

Conflict of interest? Let's see. We are a group who promotes and
believes that the best way to start to straighten things out in
Harrisburg is to oust the corrupt establishment of incumbent
politicians. Rendell is a corrupt incumbent politician. Russ is the
founder and heart and soul of this group. All that's left to say
is..DUH!

Sorry Mr. Bumstead. You have written alot of good things and are
usually on the money, but in this case the only thing that's wrong is
you.Mark Rauterkushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17157914569686528007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7481330.post-1143663393651503512006-03-29T15:16:00.000-05:002006-03-29T15:16:00.000-05:00from an email list from Ken K.> If Diamond runs fo...from an email list from Ken K.

> If Diamond runs for governor, it would cheapen the anti-incumbency movement.

Personally, I never complain about something in politics unless I have a solution to offer. Mr. Bumstead obviously isn't of that stripe.

If the problem is integrity in government, which it is, and the
leadership of the two old parties fosters a culture of corruption, which
they do, then what would Mr. Bumstead think is the solution? To leave
that culture in place? Apparently.

No, the only solution is the one we've been pursuing: Throw the bums out, from the top to the bottom, on the left and the right. Running as an Independent allows Russ to do that with clean hands; he has no puppetmasters lurking in the shadows to pay homage to. To not run would
be a tacit approval of the status quo, where silence would be consent.
But Russ has been everything but silent, and the people of Pennsylvania
are clearly in tune with his message of reform and integrity. Justice
Nigro's fate proved that.

No, Mr. Bumstead, I think you're wrong. Russ Diamond as the Independent candidate for governor is absolutely the right man in the right place at the right time. There's no questioning that -- unless you're part of the status quo.

- KenMark Rauterkushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17157914569686528007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7481330.post-1143568321944521472006-03-28T12:52:00.000-05:002006-03-28T12:52:00.000-05:00from an email list.I strongly disagree with Bumste...from an email list.

I strongly disagree with Bumstead that the PA public would show a
negative reaction to reformers themselves becoming candidates.
Evidently that's true of some journalists, whose lives revolve around
state politics 24/7. However, the vast majority of voters take the
time to focus on a primary or general election only about 2wks before
the event.

Bumstead made one point that was on the mark in that article, when he
stated "Such a three-way race would be entertaining and enlightening
for voters. A candidate like Diamond could push Rendell and Swann into
issues they would never address on their own."

As far as the Swann/Rendell race. As a long-time Repub who actually
voted for Rendell(my worst voting regret), I've no intention of
casting my vote for an unqualified candidate simply because he's a
celebrity. That would definitely be going from bad to worse.
Possibly many other PA voters are just as uninspired by the two lame
candidates for Governor the Repub & Dem parties have presented to us
this time.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
