If someone is spending time writing to discussion groups, or letters to the editor etc. about the war in Iraq, it is time that cannot be devoted to ensuring our candidates can all get on the ballot in 2006, or networking with neighbors, or planning local party activities. Therefore, although I made no initial assumption, I do not believe it is false that ttention on a war, whatever its attributes are, detracts from party building, ballot access or local elections.
