Fwd: RSVP NOW!

From: Pittsburgh Community Television Corp. pctv21.org

PITTSBURGH COMMUNITY TELEVISION WILL HOST FOCUS GROUPS TO EXPLORE
COMMUNITY MEDIA, TECHNOLOGY, AND CABLE
Your Community, Your Voice, Your Future
What's your vision for local media in Pittsburgh — now and for the next 10 years? Participate in a series of focus groups April 23-25 on the future of community media and technology.

PCTV and the City of Pittsburgh have the opportunity to plan for the future communications needs of our community through the upcoming Comcast and Verizon cable franchise renewal process and we need your assistance!

These focus groups are part of the Pittsburgh cable franchise renewal process with Verizon and Comcast. They provide a chance for interested community members to learn about franchise renewal and share their opinions about future services that could be available to our community through the cable system.

Refreshments will be provided and one $50 Amazon gift card will be awarded in a random drawing at each session.

More about the cable franchise renewal process…
In 2019, Verizon and Comcast will enter into negotiations with the City to renew the existing 10-year franchise agreement authorizing the Companies to provide cable services in Pittsburgh. PCTV is obligated to gather public input for the City through a community needs assessment.

Given the enormous changes in technology and media over the past 10 years, the process of granting new franchises to Verizon and Comcast deserves serious consideration and opportunity for public input.

The cable franchise renewal process examines the past performance of Verizon and Comcast– as well as future services that citizens, schools, community groups, businesses and local government would like to include in a new cable franchise agreement.

Your participation is invaluable…
The focus groups will provide a chance for interested community members to learn about franchise renewal and provide their opinions regarding future services that could be available through the Verizon and Comcast cable systems that serves the City of Pittsburgh.
  • Learn how the cable system works -- and opportunities for the future.
  • Hear more about PCTV, community media and public, educational and government access television in Pittsburgh.
  • See examples of how schools, community organizations, local government and businesses throughout the country are using modern media technology to communicate, educate and distribute information in this digital age.
  • Provide your ideas through brainstorming and completing a questionnaire.

The focus groups will be conducted by The Buske Group, a consulting firm assisting PCTV during the cable franchise renewal process. In addition to the focus groups, residents will be able to provide feedback through an online survey in the coming months.

Refreshments will be provided and one $50 Amazon gift card will be awarded in a random drawing at each session.

Fwd: An awakening is happening . . . maybe

----- Forwarded message ---------
From: John H

Perhaps the American public is finally beginning to wake up to reality.  I realize that this might be too much to hope for these days, but Adam Levine and Paul Street seem to offer at least a miniscule amount of hope.
