Fwd: [ASKNEWS #206] 7 Must-Read Marketing Books

- Forwarded message ---
From: Ryan Levesque
Subject: [ASKNEWS #206] 7 Must-Read Marketing Books

How many are on your shelf?

Hey, it's Ryan here…

And as you can see, we LOVE business books here at the ASK Method Company:

Ryan with books

I get asked all the time to recommend books, and I love getting recommendations as well.

So I thought I would share 7 of our "Must-Read Marketing Books."

I hope you find something new to add to your reading list!

#1: Invisible Selling Machine: 5 Steps to Crafting an Automated Evergreen Email Campaign that Literally Makes Sales While You Sleep
by Ryan Deiss

Invisible Selling Machine This classic from my friend and colleague "the other Ryan" over at Digital Marketer walks you through all 5 phases of the prospect/customer lifestyle, and shows how each step can be automated and perpetuated to invisibly convert strangers into friends, friends into customers and customers into raving fans.

#2: Everything is Figureoutable
by Marie Forleo

Everything is Figureoutable Courage and Grit is one of our company values, and this book is ALL about the one belief that changes everything: everything is figureoutable, and you can do anything you set your mind to. You'll learn the habit that makes it 42% more likely you'll achieve your goals, how to overcome a lack of time and money, and how to deal with criticism and imposter syndrome on the way to achieving your dreams.

#3: Growth Hacker Marketing
by Ryan Holiday

Growth Hacker Marketing Another one of our company values is "Continuous Improvement" and nothing represents that better than "growth hacking." Growth hackers have thrown out the old playbook and replaced it with tools that are testable, trackable, and scalable. They believe that products and businesses should be modified repeatedly until they're primed to generate explosive reactions. Ryan Holiday explains the new rules in a book that has become a marketing classic in Silicon Valley and around the world.

#4: Getting Everything You Can out of All You've Got: 21 Ways You Can Out-Think, Out-Perform, and Out-Earn the Competition
by Jay Abraham

Getting Everything You Can out of All You've Got This book was first released in 2000, and yet it's still relevant 22 years later. One of the legendary marketing experts of our time, this book is one that I read in my early years of business. Using clear examples from his own experience, Jay explains just how easy it can be to find and/or create new opportunities for wealth-building in any existing business, enterprise, or venture.

#5: Giftology: The Art & Science of Using Gifts to Cut Through the Noise, Increase Referrals, and Strengthen Retention
by John Ruhlin

Giftology This book isn't a traditional "marketing" book, but if you've ever received a gift, you know just how meaningful it can be. This book shows how strategic "giftology" can help cut through the noise and create real business relationships that last. Speaking for myself, I know I am still talking about a pair of headphones that someone sent me, even though I still have them in the box. That's how powerful gifts can be.

#6: Marketing, A Love Story: How to Matter to Your Customers
by Bernadette Jiwa

Marketing, A Love Story So many people have a fear of "marketing" because they see it as a necessary evil, or a way to manipulate people. This book helps to reimagine marketing as a way to do better work and matter to our customers. This resonates deeply with me because ASKing better questions and following the market is at the core of what we do here at the ASK Method Company.

#7: Published: The Proven Path from Blank Page to 10,000 Copies
by Chandler Bolt

Published Writing a book can be one of the most powerful marketing tools ever created. I've seen this firsthand, as my books ASK and Choose continue to reach millions of people around the world. I've known Chandler for close to 15 years and he is the real deal, with 6 best-selling books! So if you dream of writing a book, or you have a book and want to sell MORE of it, I highly recommend this one.

What about you?

Do you want to know more about writing, publishing, or selling YOUR own book?

If so, we MIGHT just have something special coming up soon, so if you want a heads up about that…

Get your name on the list here!

Happy Reading!

Ryan :-)

Fwd: We Need Your Support, Please Sign The "End The Misinformation Letter"

---------- Forwarded message ---------

End The Misinformation
Forward To A Friend Forward To A Friend

Dear Friends,

At the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, part of our vision is to end childhood drowning - the single leading cause of death among children ages one to four.

One major challenge we face is the misleading and inaccurate information used to market and sell children's flotation devices commonly used by millions of parents.

Some examples of these inaccuracies include:

  • "learn to swim easily"
  • "parents can finally enjoy peace of mind"
  • "increase their confidence in water"

This product messaging is misleading at best -
deadly at worst.

As a result of this language, many parents find themselves misusing the product and developing a false sense of confidence and security when it comes to their child's aquatic ability and safety.

Example:

We need your help to "End The Misinformation" and save children's lives!

We encourage you to take a moment to hear directly from Nicole Hughes as she bravely shares her personal story. Nicole lost her 3-year old son, Levi, in a tragic drowning accident which followed a day of playing in the pool while wearing a flotation device. Her story is incredibly powerful, and tragically, much too common.

There has never been a study to show that the use of flotation devices help children learn to swim as these misleading messages claim. And while flotation devices may have a place when used appropriately under the close supervision of an adult - their use and efficacy must be studied and proven before such claims can be made. If you share our vision to end childhood drowning, we ask that you please sign our "End The Misinformation" letter that we will be bringing to the retail industry to call attention to and address misleading marketing claims.

If you are a parent who has been impacted by a child drowning, we invite you to share your story to help shed light on this issue.

Please know we are not asking for, or encouraging public shaming of any retailers or manufacturers via social media or otherwise.  We believe they – like many of us – have been unaware of this issue.  Instead, we aim to gather as many voices and signatures as possible to create an incredible groundswell of support to help ensure that no parent or child is misled by this language.

Together with urgency and purpose, we can create change.

Thank you for your courage and support,

Adam Katchmarchi, Ph.D.

Fwd: ...in the parks. | LOVE

OMG.

---------- Forwarded message ---------
From: Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy <awenk@pittsburghparks.org>

Welcome to the first edition of "...in the parks." This new email series will share exclusive stories from the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy about the wonders found in your regional, community, and neighborhood parks.
Read below and enjoy the very first story from this new original series.
Love in the parks.

Delaney and Darren have a passion for parks and outdoor spaces. They currently call the Squirrel Hill North neighborhood home — right between Pittsburgh's Frick and Schenley Parks — the perfect location for these two park lovers who enjoy exploring their green spaces year-round.

"My partner and I love the outdoors – any chance to get out and enjoy nature makes us happy," Delaney explained. "We've enjoyed exploring so many parks over the years and as we've moved around the city. We probably visit Frick and Schenley Park the most since they're down the road and have tons of trails for running and hiking with our dog."

Parks have played a pivotal role in Delaney and Darren's relationship — it's where they got engaged and promised one another a lifetime together.

"We got engaged along the Black Forest Trail while backpacking," Delaney said. "Darren popped the question early in the hike, so we had three days free of cell service to enjoy the engagement ourselves. It was beautiful being out in nature for it all."

Delaney and Darren decided to plant their own roots in Pittsburgh's parks by purchasing a commemorative tree in their favorite park to celebrate their upcoming wedding.

"We chose to purchase a tree to commemorate our wedding as it's a natural but lasting memento we can go back and visit," Delaney explained. "Trees represent life and growth, a fitting symbol of our marriage. We wanted something to honor our wedding that would positively impact the world and bring joy; a tree in a local park felt perfect."

Not only do Delaney and Darren enjoy exploring their parks, but they also love giving back to their parks.

"Supporting our parks supports our community. Parks provide places for play, discovery, and respite that anyone can access and enjoy," Delaney explained. "They allow one space to connect with nature and slow down; they are spaces for people to gather, learn, and celebrate. Parks strengthen their communities in many ways, and it's an honor to support them."

Special thanks to Delaney and Darren for sharing their heartfelt love story with us for our first edition of "...in the parks." Stay tuned for our next edition in March!

If you have a story you'd like to share about your explorations and adventures in the parks, please email Alana Wenk at awenk@pittsburghparks.org
