Victims of Coaching Sexual Abuse vs. Chuck Wielgus
The recent imminent induction of USA Swimming Executive Director, Chuck Wielgus, into the International Swimming Hall of Fame Class of 2014 has been the topic of a lot controversy. When the ISHOF added Wielgus to the list as an Honor Contributor in the class of 2014, set to take place at the 50th Annual Honoree Induction Ceremony on June 14th, they were met with backlash from a group of protesters known as the "Victims of Coaching Sexual Abuse" in conjunction with the Women's Sports Foundation.

The Victims of Coaching Sexual Abuse have submitted a formal petition and request to the ISHOF to change it's mind in regard to the Induction of Wielgus. The group and it's supporters feel that the current Executive Director doesn't deserve to be inducted due to his gross mishandling of USA Swimming's involvement in the sexual abuse scandals that have come to light in his term as Executive Director.

This is a topic of concern in the community of USA Swimming and all evidence should be considered. Information regarding the case can be found using the links below.

After three years of hard work, long days, and cinematic elbow grease, the moment has arrived!!! We are proud to announce that BACK ON BOARD: GREG LOUGANIS will have its WORLD PREMIERE next month at the AFI DOCS Film Festival (formerly Silverdocs where Sync or Swim screened in 2008). Also in June our film will screen at the world famous Castro Theater at the Frameline LGBT Film Festival in San Francisco. We could not be more excited to share our film with the world!

See you at the movies,
Will Sweeney & Cheryl Furjanic

A generous donor has agreed to a "matching program" to help us get our film to the finish line. We are in the home stretch with post-production (online, color correct, music, sound mix) and we are still raising the funds we need to finish the film! This donor will MATCH every dollar that is pledged up to $25,000! That means you can double the impact of your tax-deductible contribution towards the film. With your help, we can make it through this last phase of important work on the film!  We'd be honored if you could kick in a few dollars (or a hundred, or a thousand) towards this goal!

Invite: Twitter Party- 2nd Annual Summer Dreamers Academy Night Out 5/29 3-5 PM

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: Howze, Merecedes J

Greetings All:
In the hours leading up to the 2nd Annual Summer Dreamers Academy Night Out, Pittsburgh Public Schools (@PPSNews) and the Summer Dreamers Academy will be hosting an exclusive Twitter party.  On Thursday, May 29th, from 3-5PM, MGR Youth Empowerment (@MGRYouth) is partnering with the summer program to make this the BIGGEST Twitter party ever!  Using hashtags #SummerLearning14 and #PghSummerRocks, tweets will be filled with fun summer learning facts, summer program opportunities, giveaways and much more.
The goal for this Twitter party is to promote positive awareness around summer learning in Pittsburgh.  Attendees are encouraged to tweet about their past summer learning experiences.  The party is also a virtual message board for all key stakeholders (parents, campers, community leaders, funders, and summer program leaders) to get on one accord about the importance of summer learning in the Greater Pittsburgh area.  Lastly, this Twitter party is an opportunity for summer programs, other than the Summer Dreamers Academy, to be heard on a larger platform.
To all of you new Twitter 'peeps', I have attached a Twitter guide with helpful tips on how to successfully be a part of the party.   Also, attached is the official invite.  Please feel free to share this email with others and post the invite on your social media pages.
If you plan to participate, please send me your Twitter handle by Tuesday, May 27th and I'll share everyone's Twitter information with the larger group.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at the information below.

Thank you,

Merecedes J. Howze
