Fwd: Health Care for All - and Tariff article too

---------- Forwarded message
From: John H

Just in case you are wondering where the Democratic Party establishment stands on Medicare for All, Glen Ford of The Black Agenda Report lays it out in the first attachment.  In the second, economist Michael Hudson examines the Donald's tariff and trade policy.  It's not as radical as one might think, but it is certainly not well thought through.  I'm certain you are shocked to hear that; but, oh well, such is life in the new era.

Fwd: Is America Willing to Launch World War III

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: John H

Attached is an exceptional article by renowned journalist Nafeez Ahmed discussing U.S. – Russian relations and touching upon the incessant drumbeat of 'Russiagate' news which has dominated the mainstream media for the past many months.  Ahmed does not for a second believe that Russia was not involved in these troll placements of information on Facebook and in Twitter, but points out that the U.S. has been far more active interfering with Russian politics ever since the fall of the Soviet Union in 1989.  Ahmed then documents this by referring on U.S. military report, Cultural Perspectives, Geopolitics & Energy Security of Eurasia: Is the Next Global Conflict Imminent?, that spells out clearly what the U.S. involvement in this has been and why we have been so interested in destabilizing Russia – hint, it just might involve the control of natural resources.

In light of the media's nonstop focus on Russiagate and the total absence of focus on U.S. activities internationally, this is an extremely important article if we are to come to understand why the world situation is so very perilous today.  The fact is that the American Empire project is rapidly pushing the world to a position where nuclear war will not only be possible, but likely.  This is not something any of us should be taking lightly – particularly given the instability at the head of our government combined with numerous senior military people who believe that winning a nuclear war is possible.

For those in the Pittsburgh area there will be a revealing talk on this subject by Dan Kovalik on Friday, March 23, at 7:00 p.m. at the Unitarian-Universalist Church of the South Hills in Mt. Lebanon, discussing his recent book, The Plot to Scapegoat Russia, see attached flyer for details.

PPS Teachers are voting on their contract offer

I offered some input in a discussion on Facebook in a thread of a PFT teacher.

I posted.

Brava! You make a good case.

One tiny counter-point: There are public hearings when the board and the administration (you called them "they") get to listen to suggestions and concerns. Of course, the time to do that was months ago -- not when sparks were flying. Furthermore, written remarks are always able to be submitted. I trust that they are read, but who knows. To me, that is the focus group and meeting of consequence. Wants and needs for city taxpayers, students, families, government, employees, and all the other interest groups and stakeholders should be able to have a viable input forum. It happens monthly.

I do wish for a bit more transparency.
Plus, I hope that a strike is avoided.
Finally, I wonder about the details of sports coaching within the contract. But, I guess I can wait a bit longer to see what's what.

Hold the phone. The Ethics Hearing Board did not start in 2016

What?

The Post-Gazette is reporting something that can't be true.

She credits her creation of the city's Ethics Hearing Board as one of her proudest accomplishments. The nine-member board formed officially in 2016 to regulate compliance with the city's code of ethics, including the filing of campaign finance forms and gift disclosures.

The city's Ethics Hearing Board was a toothless body for a number of years before her arrival.
