Film, Black Political Empowerment Project(B-PEP) Event

The Black Political Empowerment Project(B-PEP)

The Black Political Project (B-PEP) and the Coalition Against Violence (CAV) have been working for sometime on the causes and solutions with regard to violence within the African  American community.  We encourage our community partners to attend this video presentation. "

On the behalf of the Northside Coalition for Fair Housing (NCFH) I am writing to ask if you to attend the viewing of the documentary Spit 'in Anger: Venom of Fatherless Sons, produced by Mr. Kenneth Braswell; followed by a panel discussion with Mr. Kenneth Braswell .Please see attached Press Release.

Mr. Braswell will show his film and participate in a discussion on Wednesday June 11th 2014. The event will be held at Letter Carriers' Building 841 California Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15212. Open to the public it will start at 5 PM and there will be light refreshments and hors d'oeuvres.

Please review the following link, http://www.spitinanger.com/ to view the video promo and learn more about Spit 'in Anger: Venom of Fatherless Sons. Mr. Braswell is also the Executive Director of Fatherhood Incorporated . http://www.fathersincorporated.com/ . Brother Braswell is also a key player in the Obama Administrations' Fatherhood Initiative!

During holidays such as Father's day and Mother's day we are afforded the opportunity to celebrate those parents who are in their children's lives, but we do not stop to think about those who are being raised in single parent homes. Often times, in African American homes, fathers are not present due to a variety of reasons. Mr. Braswell's goal in producing Spit' in Anger was to initiate critical conversations about the importance of fathers and to create spaces for men and boys to talk about their anger and pain, ultimately to heal. The film addresses the underlying issue of anger that dwells in young black males as a result of not having a nurturing relationship with their fathers.

This is an issue that is not talked about within our communities but is an issue which we need to begin to address. We anticipate you joining us to initiate this discussion within the city of Pittsburgh and to embark on helping the young men we serve to heal, and understand that they are not alone.

If you are interested in joining forces do not hesitate to follow up with us, via email or telephone, and spread the word so that we ensure a successful event.

I look forward to hearing from you and working with you.
