This great, very reasonably priced self contained coding course created by Devin Asay at BYU has recently been updated with new content and a facelift. It also now runs on Win 64bit and Mac Catalina. 

What better way to spend your lockdown time? Give yourself a new skill. LiveCode University assumes no past experience programming. You will start with the basic principals of computational thinking and build up step-by-step.

The course content was created by Brigham Young University and has been taught there successfully for several years. The skills you learn will make it easier for you to learn many other languages and technologies in the future if you choose to.

In this upgrade to LiveCode University, virtually every lesson has been clarified and expanded. In addition, many new interactive examples have been added.

This version of LCU has had an extensive facelift, improving the user experience. Improvements include:

  • Better resizing for embedded images
  • Use of scalable vector graphics (SVG) for navigation icons

Supplemental lessons on topics such as Writing Custom Functions, Text Encoding, and Introduction to Arrays. These will become available through regular content updates to all users of the new LCU version starting this spring and summer.

LCU undergoes frequent review for accuracy and changes in LiveCode. The good news is that, thanks to LCU's Content Update feature you don't have to wait for a new release to get the latest content updates. LCU will automatically check for content updates at each launch.
