WordCamp Pittsburgh is just a few days away, Saturday, September 17! Read on for some important information to help you get the most out of WordCamp TRAFFIC ALERT The Liberty Bridge will still be closed, so if you are coming from south of the city, please consider alternate routes and plan for extra travel time due to traffic. The venue address is below if you need to use Google Maps or your preferred navigation system to assist with directions. The posted detour signs might not be the best route for everyone. Also, the Liberty Mile race will be happening Saturday Morning and will impact Penn Avenue, Liberty Avenue, and 11th street. Please refer to the course map and we recommend avoiding those streets. http://www.libertymile.org/Files/Admin/2016-Liberty_Mile_Course_Loop.pdf CONFERENCE VENUE Art Institute of Pittsburgh 420 Boulevard of the Allies Pittsburgh, PA 15219 Please take a look at the Google Street View of the venue - http://goo.gl/GpvYIz The doors under the address are locked, you'll enter the building through a single door to the right of those (the door with the white awning to the right of the photo, near the flag). This entrance does require you to go up a short flight of 3 steps. If you can not do steps, motion to the security guard in the window and he will open the accessible entrance (you'll find the ramp at the doorway in the center of the building, under the address) PARKING There are many parking lots around the Art Institute, but we recommend the following garage, which is right across the street from the Art Institute and only $6 for the day: InterPark Garage 200 Smithfield St. Pittsburgh, PA 15222 pittsburgh.interparkonline.com *PLEASE NOTE - garage entrances are on Boulevard of the Allies and Cherry Way (not on Smithfield Street) REGISTRATION Registration will take place between 7:45 and 8:30 in the Art Institute Lobby, just to the left of the entrance. If you arrive after 8:30, follow the signs to the silver elevators (straight back from the entrance), and proceed to the fourth floor, room 421, to pick up your badge. SCHEDULE Want to plan your day? Dress comfortably and plan for air conditioning indoors and a chance of rain outdoors. All WordCamp events are indoors, but you may want an umbrella if you choose to walk to the after party. Pen & Paper - You'll learn lots of new things, and we doubt you'll be able to remember everything! Laptop - optional - If taking notes electronically is more your speed, feel free to bring your laptop. Wifi and charging areas will be available. You'll also want your own laptop if you plan to visit the Happiness Bar for assistance on your site. Mobile Phones/Smart Watches - we encourage you to share all that you are learning via social media with the hashtag #wcpgh. We will source some of the best photos from Twitter for a slideshow at the after party. Device Chargers - we will have extra power and charging stations, however you will need to bring your own charging cables. Power will not be available at every seat, so please bring your devices fully charged. Mobile Hot Spot - optional - Wifi will be available, but when you pack 100+ WordPress folks in one place, tech can be unpredictable at times. If you must be connected to the internet at all times, consider a hot spot. See you on Saturday! The WordCamp Pittsburgh Team |
