Good morning:
I would like to invite you to the an inaugural "Dock Ellis Day Celebration", commemorating the life and legacy of Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis. The event will take place at Culture Restaurant, 130 7th Street, Pittsburgh, PA on Sunday June 12th, from 12pm to 4pm.
The event will be held on the 46th anniversary of Dock Ellis' historic no-hitter in San Diego and include entertainment from legendary Pittsburgh DJ/WYEP-FM radio personality Selecta, a panel discussion and an exclusive screening of the award winning documentary film: No-No A Documentary. Proceeds will benefit the Josh Gibson Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing academic programs, athletic programs and baseball training facilities benefiting the youth of the Pittsburgh community.
Schedule for the day:
- 12pm: Doors open
- 12:30pm: Panel discussion featuring Dock Ellis' agent Tom Reich, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette columnist Brian O'Niell and nationally acclaimed journalist Brentin Mock
- 1:30pm: Special screening of No No: A Documentary (Trailer)
- 3:00pm: Post-film reception
The purpose of the event is to commemorate the life and legacy of Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis, a one of a kind personality who, as a player, made a lasting impact on sport and popular culture. In addition, we aim to highlight and honor the work Dock Ellis did to transform many lives in a positive way as a drug and alcohol counselor later in life.
