When you think about the unfair advantages of niche authorities, one of the most powerful is this: No matter where you enter the niche, no matter who you follow... eventually, you inevitably find your way back to their content. It’s as though they’ve warped the attention of their space to bend toward themselves. Made all roads lead to Rome and anointed themselves Caesar. Think Alex Hormozi in the business and marketing space, Andrew Huberman in health and wellness, Mel Robbins in self-help. I’m guessing you can easily point to the smaller niche authorities in both your space and in the niches you participate in. I think of this as achieving Ubiquity within your niche. Where it is almost literally impossible for a participant in your niche not to discover you. Achieving Ubiquity has a few core benefits for your business and marketing: First, as mentioned, you become literally impossible to ignore, meaning more people discover and find their way back to your work. Second, Ubiquity implies status and authority. The more often people encounter your work (even if they don’t engage with it), the more seriously they’ll think it must be. Third, repeat exposure compounds. The higher the density of touchpoints someone has with your work, the more likely they are to subscribe, binge, and buy. In other words, achieving Ubiquity is an incredible accelerant for your business. Of course, on the one hand, Ubiquity feels like the natural outcome or byproduct of their existing visibility and authority. What most people don’t realize, however, is that it can also be engineered. And it’s a lot easier than you’d think.
There are a few ways people try to achieve Ubiquity. The first is via ads, which, while they can get you in front of most people in your space… often invite skepticism rather than credibility from viewers (and obviously have a cost to maintain). The second is via algorithmic platforms like YouTube and social media, which have incredible reach potential… but over which you have zero control in terms of who will see your stuff and where you’ll show up. And then, there’s podcast guesting, which has a few unique advantages over the other methods. First, by choosing the right shows, you have total control over where you show up. If we stick with our “all roads lead to Rome” analogy, this is like surveying all the main thoroughfares in your niche and strategically installing an onramp to your content on each one. The second advantage is that, unlike ads and algorithms, podcast guest appearances infer a halo of trust and authority based on the relationship the host has spent years cultivating with their audience. Third, podcast guest appearances are highly leveraged. For one, great guest episodes often have a long shelf life, driving exposure, leads, sales, and authority for months if not years after the original air date. But more importantly, achieving Ubiquity likely only requires you to guest on a handful of shows in your niche to reach the vast majority of your ideal buyers. A small amount of effort for a huge amount of upside, in other words. Getting on the right shows is just the first step in capitalizing on your Ubiquity however. The second step is showing up with the right message. Delivering it in the right way. And then leading people back to your owned platforms with the right next step. Miss any one of these and the whole podcast guesting system breaks down. Fortunately, once you lock in the core of your guesting strategy, you can design a system around it to ensure every guest appearance hits the mark… And creates another node in the network, further saturating your niche, increasing your ubiquity, and creating a new stream of subscribers, leads, and customers back to your work. Next week, I’m running a hands-on workshop to help you build out your own podcast guesting system to achieve Ubiquity in your space, and grow your audience, sales, and authority. It’s called Spotlight™. In it, I’ll walk you through the four components of effective podcast guesting for coaches, consultants, and advisors:
By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a list of high-potency shows to target, a set of compelling angles that will get you booked (and the pitch email template to send them), a standard guest episode outline engineered to earn subscribers and sales, and the outline of your Conversion Conduit to turn leads into clients. Tickets are just $100. Click here to see what we’re doing and grab a spot. Jeremy |
