Fwd: Don't listen to the political media

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: "Ron Paul" <info@randpaul2016.com>
Date: Aug 15, 2015 5:45 PM
Subject: Don't listen
To: <mark.rauterkus@gmail.com>
Cc:

Dear Mark:

If you want to know what I really think about my son, Rand, then don't listen to our national media.

Don't listen to the Big Government Washington insiders who'd love nothing more than another Bush/Clinton showdown in November of 2016.

Let me be clear...

There is not one candidate who has run for president in my lifetime who can say they fully share my commitment to liberty, Austrian economics, small government, and following the Constitution, than my son, Rand Paul.

That's why I have wholeheartedly endorsed him.

And it's why I wanted to write to you today to personally urge you to sign your Pledge of Support for Rand.

I know the media likes to play this little game where they pit us, or certain views, against each other.

Don't fall for it. They're trying to manufacture storylines at liberty's expense. You've spent years seeing how the media treated me. They aren't my friends and they aren't yours.

So please don't waste your time or risk the massive gains you and I have made over the past eight years by suddenly believing Big Government apologists in our media are some sort of truth tellers.

Remember, truth is treason in the empire of lies. And nowhere is that more true than when it comes to Washington, D.C. and their media mouthpieces.

Even where Rand and I do have minor differences of opinion, I would take Rand's position over any of his opponents' in both parties every time.

That's because he advocates diplomacy and negotiations, and opposes war.

And Rand is the ONLY one in the race who is standing up for your Liberty, across the board.

You certainly saw a great example of that in the first debate. Chris Christie tried to trample all over your rights in a false attack.

Rand stopped him cold.

And it's nothing new for Rand. Whether it's filibustering to stop drones or the Patriot Act, or introducing the Fourth Amendment Protection Act, no one has fought harder for your rights than Rand.

And that's why, since the moment he announced his candidacy for President of the United States, our national media and the Big Government establishment has gone all-out to smear him or silence him.

They push other Big Government Republicans as "frontrunners" while ignoring polls showing Rand leading Hillary Clinton in key presidential Battleground States.

They make sure he gets the least amount of time in a national debate (that sounds familiar).

They hype other candidates' easy access to Wall Street fat cats who leech off Big Government while ignoring the growing army of small donors Rand is building nationwide.

That's because they fear Rand more than any other candidate. They know he is our best hope to restore liberty, limited government and the Bill of Rights and finally end the big spending status quo in Washington, D.C.

Rand stood on the Senate floor for ten-and-a-half hours to force the Patriot Act to expire. Rand's stamina and determination called the nation's attention to President Obama's illegal and unconstitutional phone records collection. In the Senate, there is no greater champion of the Fourth Amendment and no one as fearless in staring down the establishment, Republican or Democrat.

It was his action, and his alone, that forced the NSA's bulk metadata collection programs to expire under Section 215 of the "PATRIOT Act." Not only that, but he continued to stand strongly against Washington, D.C.'s "Plan B" scheme, the misnamed "USA FREEDOM Act";

When President Obama was insisting on arming the Islamic rebels in Syria and bombing Assad, Rand stood firm and challenged the President. He even took to Fox News' TV airwaves in a live national address to counter President Obama's attempt to "gin up" war fever, infuriating Big Government Republicans like Karl Rove!

And don't forget Rand's first filibuster exposing the Obama administration's lawless use of drones, earning attacks from U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham and "wacko bird" name-calling from Senator John McCain. His historic 13-hour filibuster galvanized the American people unlike anything you and I have ever seen!

He's also THE most stalwart opponent of the Federal Reserve in the Senate. He's fought against ObamaCare every step of the way. He's introduced budgets to slash spending and dig us out of our $18.3 TRILLION debt.

He will keep our country out of senseless foreign wars that cost so many lives and bleed our treasury dry. He's not afraid to lay the blame for making worse the chaos we see today with ISIS and Iraq squarely at the feet of the neocons.

And he's proven he's unafraid to stand up to anyone in Washington when the times call for it – even the leadership of his own party.

Rand stands ready to lead, and to win. He has my full support. I ask that he also have yours.

The truth is, Rand needs our grassroots army of liberty lovers more than ever.

The national media and the establishment of both parties would love nothing more than to drive a stake through the heart of our Liberty Movement and stop Rand at all costs.

They're going all-out to destroy him just like they tried to destroy me. And if they succeed, they'll go on to even more spending, spying, welfare and warfare in Washington, D.C.

I was able to weather the media's viciousness because I had patriots like you at my side. Because good folks like you stood with me, the Washington Machine failed. Our Liberty Movement continues to grow.

Now, my son Rand needs us in his corner. I'm answering the call. I'm proud to say I "Stand with Rand."

Can I count on you to join me? Will you please sign your Pledge of Support and chip in $20.16 right away?

Please know every dollar is critical.

Unlike other candidates, Rand isn't depending on Wall Street fat-cats and banksters who want more special treatment, bailouts and stimulus packages to bankroll his candidacy.

He's depending on patriots like you who are willing to fight to take our country back.

Please join me in supporting him. Please sign your Pledge of Support and chip in $20.16 TODAY.

For Liberty,

Ron Paul

P.S. There is not one candidate who has run for president in my lifetime who can say they're more committed to liberty, Austrian economics, small government, the Constitution, and a rational foreign policy than my son, Rand Paul.

I'm proud to "Stand with Rand" despite media attacks trying to pit us against each other.

But Rand needs us now more than ever. So please sign your Pledge of Support and chip in $20.16 to his campaign. Whatever you can afford will help.

Editorial

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has released a consensus statement on youth athlete development (see Investigating the Complexity of Youth Athlete Development and the IOC Consensus Statement link below). It is a wide-ranging document and people will have a variety of views on its intent, and on its likely impact on youth sport participation and performance.

Coaching, as I would expect, is highlighted as a critical factor in the development of young sportspeople. But of particular note for me was the sentence:

"According to the IOC the 'culture' of specific sports and youth sports in general, has become disproportionately both adult and media centred."

It goes on to suggest youth athletes are viewed as 'commodities'. Does this describe us now? Could it in future? As a coaching community we are in a strong position to help ensure the answer to both questions is 'No.'

Brett Reid, Sport NZ Community Coaching Consultant

Coaching Content

Young athletes better off playing multiple sports
The benefits of playing more than one sport vastly outweigh those of specialising at a young age. That's the view of Northern Districts director of cricket Pat Malcon, as ND batsman Jono Hickey prepares for the national provincial rugby championship with Auckland before wielding a cricket bat for the Knights this summer. (Sunday Star Times)

Rugby enters brave new coaching era

Australian coach Jan Stirling reflects on her FIBA Hall of Fame entry
To Jan Stirling coaching is just coaching. The sport, the gender of the athletes and the team budget matters not. What matters to her is the coach gets the best out of the athlete. (Sydney Morning Herald)

Investigating the Complexity of Youth Athlete Development and the IOC Consensus Statement
"Without our context we are not what we are. We are not a list of attributes. My aim is not to fracture and break apart what should be together, not to de-contextualise. And that's the oldest approach on earth". (Juanma Lillo of Footblogball)

An Uncommon Man: Life Lessons from a True Sporting Role Model
Back in the summer of 2000, I was just completing my first year as an assistant men's soccer coach at the University of Vermont. Between sessions of summer camp, I often ducked out of the heat by having lunch in the cool confines of UVM's famed Gutterson Field House, watching some of the planet's best ice hockey players playing summer pickup games. Olympians and NHL champions such as John LeClair, Aaron Miller, Tim Thomas, and Patrick Sharp honed their skills in these games, and I had quite the front row seat. (Changing The Game Project.com)

Future Australian soccer coaches missing out because of strict A-League club commitments
AUSTRALIA'S next generation coaches will sadly lack the invaluable input of professional A-League players if the scheduling for courses continually clashes with club commitments. (news.com.au)

Coaching Tips - making sport inclusive for all
For most people, the first youthful experiences within sport have a dramatic effect on the long-term idea of what they are capable of and if positive, can pave the way for future success. (SIRC Blog)

Fwd: [Webmaker] Important Product Update for Popcorn Maker and Appmaker

As Webmaker for Android <http://webmaker.org> nears the end of its time in
beta and prepares for official launch, we wanted to share an update on
Mozilla's other tools for teaching the Web: Appmaker, Popcorn Maker,
Thimble and X-Ray Goggles. We discussed the future of these tools in a May
blog post <https://blog.webmaker.org/whats-next-for-webmaker-tools> (
http://mzl.la/1KKduFH), but after continued discussions we have updated our
plans.

As previously mentioned, Thimble and X-Ray Goggles are powerful and popular
tools among educators for teaching web literacy skills, and can now be
found at https://teach.mozilla.org/tools/. Later this summer, we'll be
releasing an updated version of Thimble with improved capabilities, so stay
tuned!

As our tools evolve, we will no longer support Appmaker and Popcorn Maker
<https://blog.webmaker.org/whats-next-for-webmaker-tools> (
http://mzl.la/1KKduFH). Instead, we're focusing our efforts on Webmaker for
Android, which empowers smartphone users to create local content and read,
write and participate online.

*Both Appmaker and Popcorn Maker will remain available until Wednesday,
Sept. 30, after which they will be inaccessible*. We are no longer able to
provide bug fixes and user support for these tools. However, users will
still be able to access makes created with these tools in a read-only
capacity, even after Sept. 30. To do so, visit webmaker.org/me and sign in.
And as open source projects, the code for these tools will continue to be
available for reuse at https://github.com/mozilla/popcorn_maker and
https://github.com/mozilla-appmaker/appmaker.

If you have any questions, email help@webmaker.org or on Twitter @Webmaker

Comeback

The Comeback page: http://www.cneonline.org/comeback-series/.

Article on Linked In from Jerry Bowyer sent me to the trailer. Insights from the Jack Kemp approach.

Forbes.com: "'Comeback' Miniseries Aims To Reboot The Jack Kemp Agenda"

The man who mentored Jack Kemp as an anti-poverty crusader has teamed up with the man whom Jack Kemp mentored into politics to produce a mini-series called Comeback. Robert Woodson and Paul Ryan produced Comeback and used it to take viewers into the toughest neighborhoods in America, and show them groups of people who are solving the social ills of the inner city poor from within and below. Comeback shines the light on the people that Woodson calls “community antibodies.” Community antibodies are the neighborhoods’ organic defense against threats such as violence, addiction, and social break-down. Comeback is not really much of a public policy series, and even less of a politics series. But I think it leads the sensitive viewer to some pretty clear policy and political conclusions: that the welfare state has failed, that the people who know the most about these communities learned what they know by growing up in them (not by studying monographs in grad school), that government has made things worse, that to the degree that government can play a constructive role, it is to empower the local community leaders (not shills, pols, and grievance merchants, or activists) to have more degrees of freedom in what they are already doing, helping people escape misery one at a time from the inside out...

Hooking Pittsburgh into some swimming and water polo this week, month and season

Hi Friends,

Join us for some swimming and water polo this summer with some expanding opportunities.

See the Google Calendar link at http://CLOH.org.

10:30 am Mondays, West Penn Rec Center outdoor pool, Polish Hill.
The Garfield Gators (boys & girls) are there too!

6-7:30 pm Mondays, Northside's Sue Murray Swim Pool

11 am to noon, Tuesdays, Citiparks Sheridan's outdoor swim pool with some Learn & Earn youth workers. This is a short walk from Langley HS.

6-7:30 pm Tuesdays, adult masters players gather for water polo in the deep end at Mt. Washington's Ream outdoor pool. Kid's play in the shallow end.

10:30 am Wednesdays, West Penn Rec Center, again.

6-7:30 pm Wednesdays, Northside's Sue Murray again.

11 am to noon Thursdays, Sheridan, again.

6-7:30 pm Thursdays, Mt. Washington's Ream pool.

Friday 5-8 pm at Hill District's Thelma Lovette YMCA indoor pool.

All outdoor sessions are weather permitting. These are casual, drop-in sessions where rookies and volunteers are most welcome.

We hope to sustain these practices throughout August and then transfer them to the Obama Academy pool as we're starting a varsity water polo team for the high school boys and girls. Plus, many other city and area high school principals have gotten letters that invite them to join a sport-team coop so that their students can participate on our scholastic water polo squad(s). The first to opt-in, Seaton LaSalle High School. Welcome.

Sadly, the pledge for the Pittsburgh Promise shrunk by $10,000 for city kids this week. In my humble opinion, we need to get our city kids better sports and fitness opportunities so many more can be RECRUITED into colleges. The sports background is attractive in college applications as it teaches discipline, goal-setting and teamwork. At Summer Dreamers we're working on backstroke, plus gaining respect for ourselves, our mates, our surroundings and playing well with others.

Stay cool at the pool and hope you and yours are safe throughout the summer!

Phone message script

This is Coach Mark with Summer Dreamers water polo.

I'm calling to the homes of the students who are with us at Camp Langley with Summer Dreamers.

Housekeeping first: Thanks for taking this call. If nobody at this phone number has any kids in our water polo program – I appoligize for the call and if you PRESS #1 on your phone, I'll kindly remove this phone # from this summer's call list.

Good news: At camp, we are making progress. Most have made great strides in fitness, running and swimming.

Bad news: Some of the behaviors with some of the students at the pool, in the locker areas and especially at transition times have been making un-necessary burdens to other students, the staff and even the lifeguards. I'm heartbroken to see some of the kids fighting. Camp behaviors need to improve or else we run the risk of getting expelled from taking our squads to the pools.

Guardians, please take a moment to talk about good behaviors within the activities and throughout the school day. We are stressing LISTENING, playing well with others and good sportsmanship.

Extra news: The Liberty Mile is approaching. Plus, we have EVENING swim sessions and will be holding extra practices AFTER Summer Dreamers ends. Come for a swim on the Northside on Mondays and Wednesdays, or Mt. Washington on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and the Hill District YMCA on Fridays. We need all the paperwork for the race entry right away. A new handout is expected to be sent home tomorrow.

Friendship House Concerts

is delighted to present

Joe Jencks in a special performance

Sunday, August 16

4:00 PM

Joe Jencks is an international touring performer and award-winning songwriter. His career is based as much in ministering to the human spirit as it is in the performance of music. "A Joe Jencks concert is definitely not a visit to the inner world of some guy with a guitar who would like us all to sit still and listen politely. It's an occasion for singing, a contagious rising up of voices, an act of joy and defiance! …Tapping into the latent, nearly mystical beauty that a roomful of people can unleash by singing together." – Seattle Folklore Society
"Joe Jencks is the type of musician that will cause you to drop that morning newspaper or pull your car to the side of the road when you hear his songs. His voice will instantly draw you into his passionate songs. He is a musician whose music will become part of you. His craft and artistry will remind you of the best efforts of Phil Ochs, Stan Rogers, and Woody Guthrie. The troubadour tradition is alive and well in the 21st century with the music of Joe Jencks."
-Ron Olesko, WFDU –FM Teaneck, NJ
We hope to see many of you at CindyStock, yatescancerfund@hotmail.com, in Wexford on August 15 with Joe Jencks, Joe Crookston, Jill West and the Blues Attack, and Maura Elyse. Then you can come to Friendship the next day for Joe Jencks' encore performance.

Check out Joe and his music at http://www.joejencks.com

Seating is limited. For information and/or an invitation, call or email:

Fwd: Pittsburgh Water Polo at the Cincinnati Shoot-Out Videos on You Tube (some of the Games0

Pittsburgh Water Polo

I have uploaded to YouTube some of the Games for the 18U Boys (A & B) from the Cincinnati Tournament for viewing. I was not able to get the Girls games + I missed some of the other Boys games as well (as explained below).

Filmed and Uploaded:

Championship Game for 18U-B Team: Tiger (17) vs. WindyCity Chicago (6)

===================================

Game #2 - 18U-A Team: Tiger (10) vs. WindyCity Chicago (5) - Charles Ross is outstanding in the Goal.

Game #3 - 18U-A Team: Tiger (22) vs. Lincoln-way Area Waterpolo (6)

Game #5 - 18U-A Team: The last 2:32 minutes of 4th Quarter - I was able to capture (with the other memory card) the final few minutes of this game with Charles Ross and Cam Makin climbing out of the pool after the win. It was the last game the guys would ever play for the Tiger.

With only about 3 minutes left in the Championship Game #5, the Camera overheated and shut down. I quickly switched memory cards and placed the overheated card on the ledge overlooking the Pool. I then got distracted and forgot to pick up the memory card at the U of C Pool. It is sickening not to have those (2) last Games on film.

Missing Games due to lost Memory Card:

Game #4 - 18U-A Team: Tiger (16) vs. St. Xavier (7)

Game #5 - 18U-A Team: Tiger (17) vs. WindyCity Chicago (7)

===================================

Partially Filmed & Not Uploaded:

Game #1 - 18U-A Team: Tiger (16) vs. Upper Arlington (3)

Best Regards, Bill Anthony in Erie, PA

Thank You card from American Water Polo for work on Summer Dreamers

Appreciation helps.
