called a bombshell: There is enough asbestos to fit in my pocket -- says ex-principal at Schenley

Tim Stevens wrote, in part:
The first Black Principal of Schenley High School informed me today that asbestos was removed from Schenley in the summers of 1970 and 1971. This is a BOMBSHELL!! He states that if there is asbestos there, it
would only be enough to fit in this pocket!!

He is willing to come tonight, and at my request has just signed up to speak...

Keep students at Schenley. The lawsuits for asbestosis should provide entertainment for years to come.

The question is: how much asbestos, and does he have the paperwork proving it?

Come on now. There must be records on it. Did anyone ask Fellers or someone to corroborate the clain? I am going on prozac over this Schenley stuff.

Heard him make the claim tonight. He is looking good. He is fit and wore the same shirt and tie he wore in 1971 when his team played in the state basketball championships at the Civic Arena.

He talked of the certificate. It went to the Pgh Public Schools Building Engineer.

He also talked about being in meetings back then when there were bids made on buying Schenley. The board rejected them. The prices rose. They were still rejected.

WOW. I bet the board building will be humming with activity tomorrow. However this turns out, do you think we can all rally and behave like it is not going to defeat us?

John K. says: This is so cool, watching the Democrats whine about asbestos that is sealed and poses no hazard to anyone as long as it remains sealed. But the Democrats thought they could make political points in the early 80's with this issue and now it came right back and bit them. They made the rules to protect the little guy. Now following them is a bit tough. It is funny.
