A professor taught that the lottery is really a stupid tax. That has nothing to do with being rich or poor.

John K: The lottery is a tax on the poor. Now I am not opposed to that because the poor do not pay their fair share anyway. Often they get more back through EITC and tax forgiveness. So using a lottery to tax the poor is fine with me. A fool and their money are soon parted.
