I wanted to send a quick note out to this list to let people know about a new site we have developed which is dedicated to engaging in meaningful discussions concerning intellectual property rights, technology and the arts. Currently the site consists of daily news items, featured articles, featured music, art and film licensed under open content licenses and commentary from a diverse group of individuals including artists, engineers and lawyers.
The site is in its early stages. The ambitions of the site are much greater. We would like to expand to try to build an open content network. In order to do this we are seeking individuals who are interested in developing the second logical layer of the open content movement. This second layer includes reviewing open content releases, interviewing artists, developing and producing streaming media/podcasts, creating compilation albums and bittorrents of copyleft content and much more. The hope is to expose the best of what has been licensed under open content licenses and help show that open content movement can flourish.
Contributors to the network will be recognized for their efforts through attribution and will have their own section on the site with a picture and bio. This section will be designed to promote anything that this person wants to highlight about themselves or their career.
It is a perfect opportunity for those who want to get more involved in supporting the open content movement but were unsure how they could to get involved. It will give those interested, an opportunity to participate in a collaborative open media network and possibly for some of you, to develop and use new skills outside your day-to-day, 9-to-5 existence.
