Subj: Requesting a tour of Peabody-- request for confirmation and assistance

The Pittsburgh Public Schools International Baccalaureate site selection committee presentation to the Pittsburgh Peabody Stakeholders committee, Wednesday, January 28, 2009 was impressive. The committee followed a great process that included touring all of the schools that met the criteria.

In order to maintain the same quality of excellence in the Pittsburgh Peabody Stakeholder committee process, we seek a one hour tour on of the Peabody campus on Monday, March 2nd, 2009 at 6:00pm.

The tour will give the committee a hands-on feeling for the educational programming that can exist within Pittsburgh Peabody facility. The tour will aid in the dreaming process; which will take us from what is to what can be.

It is our expectation that the committee would be able to examine areas of the building such as auditorium, swimming pool, gymnasium, and computer labs. It is of great interest to us to examine all floors of the Peabody facility to get a sense of the sheer size of the building.

Depending on Principal Friez's availability on the March 2nd, we would love to have her do a brief presentation after the tour on all of the programs currently engaged in Pittsburgh Peabody. Resulting from the presentation some members of the tour may chose to volunteer to support Pittsburgh Peabody.

I am attempting to arrange this tour of Pittsburgh Peabody campus through your office because of your lead staffing role as a parent and community staff liaison for the district. We certainly see Mrs. Kodman and Mrs. Friez as a critical leaders on this matter also.

I will call you on Monday, February 23, 2009 to confirm the date and time of the tour.

Sincerely,
Richard Flanagan
Youth Development Director
