they paid for their tickets
Politicians paying own way to Super Bowl this year Unlike 10 years ago, the Steelers and National Football League aren't treating local public officials to free trips to the Super Bowl.
This time, the team has made game tickets available to some public officials at the $600 face value -- a perk not offered to the public -- but nothing more. Those who buy the tickets will have to find their own way to Detroit and make their own hotel accommodations.
