The Carbolic Smoke Ball: PIRATES' SPECIAL ALL-STAR GAME CONSULTANT, MAYOR RICHARD J. DALEY, PUSHES JASON BAY INTO LEAD IN BALLOTING AMONG NL OUTFIELDE

Cute.
The Carbolic Smoke Ball: PIRATES' SPECIAL ALL-STAR GAME CONSULTANT, MAYOR RICHARD J. DALEY, PUSHES JASON BAY INTO LEAD IN BALLOTING AMONG NL OUTFIELDERS Jason Bay found himself atop all National League outfielders in fan balloting for the All-Star game today, and he has one man to thank for it: the Pirates' special 'All-Star Game Consultant,' Richard J. Daley, former Mayor of Chicago.
We are going to go to the game on Tuesday night. That will be my first time in PNC Park since the City League High School Baseball Championship Game -- won by Langley!

I'd rather go watch a winning team anyway.

I have not been to a Pirate game in a couple of years, other than to protest.

Jason Bay has one man to thank: Richard Daley?!?!?!?

What about the thousands of Pirate fans who voted in PNC Park an/or online?

I hadn't heard about Daley doing anything until I read your blog from a couple of days ago. Absolutely preposterous my friend.

Eddie Vedder from whatever the heck rock band he fronts even plugged for Bay the other night. Radio commercials plug the vote.

Keep votin' by the way, voting ends tomorrow night at midnight from what I understand.

Thomas, I just spoke with Mayor Daley and he's not at all upset that you think it's preposterous he is engineering Bay's victory. He prefers to remain behind the scenes, as he was in the 1960 Presidential election, because he thinks it "will look better" if people like you feel they are having an impact.
