As all of you are well aware, our efforts, and the efforts of all Ron Paul supporters nationwide, pushed him over the $5 million mark for Q3. Unless you've been living off the grid for the last week and a half, you've obviously noticed all of the mainstream media attention Ron has been getting because of this. It's been absolutely amazing how many articles have been written, news stories have been produced, interviews with Ron given, all because of this money.
So what's the next step? It's to put Ron not just ahead of McCain, but at the level of Rudy and Mitt and Fred by the end of Q4. The campaign has already set the goal of $12 million, or $4 million a month. This means that for every dollar you donated to the campaign last quarter, you'd need to give just a little more than double that over the next 3 months. For example, if you donated $100, then you'd need to give about $220 this quarter to help him hit his target.
I am well aware that we all have limitations on how much we can sacrifice. But just remember that by giving to Ron's campaign you're making sure that he gets the attention he needs to be a legitimate threat to the "top tier" candidates. If you help get Ron to that position in the media his message will carry him the rest of the way. The bottom line is that many people still don't know about him, and the only way to change that is to get him more media exposure.
I personally donated $330 to Ron's campaign in Q3. $150 in direct cash donations, the rest in material costs for different campaign related activities, like the Letters to Iowans mailing effort. This time around I am planning on directly donating $125/month to the campaign over each of the next 3 months. It won't be easy, but I believe it is well worth the sacrifice. And once Ron gets elected and abolishes the IRS, I'm positive I'll get it paid back in spades. So consider your donations to be a down payment on an investment in liberty, security, and prosperity for you and your families. If this campaign isn't worth that investment, I don't know what is.
So please figure out how you can work a monthly donation to Ron into your budget, and make it a priority. Getting Ron to $12 million by the end of Q4 will be just about the biggest boost his campaign could hope for. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY will be able to ignore Ron when he brings in an equal amount to Rudy, Mitt, and Fred. And all of those people who have been sitting back thinking "I like this Ron Paul guy, but he has no chance", will realize that he's just as viable a candidate as those other guys. That's all Ron needs to win the nomination.
Thank you all for everything you do in support of liberty!
Steve
