Question:
WHAT IS A LIBERTARIAN DOING VISITING AND SPENDING MONEY TO PROP UP A
TOTALITARIAN DICTATORSHIP THAT JUST BEAT UP REPORTERS THE OTHER DAY BECAUSE
THEY DID NOT LIKE THEM!!! YOU AND THE REST OF THE CROWD ARE LEGITIMIZATING
A TERRIBLE REGIME. I AM VERY SURPRISED!

My reply.

I'm here so as to live in ways to spread freedom and liberty -- and understanding too.

The money I spend is next to nothing. Not even a spit in the ocean.

I have not seen anyone get beaten. I'll let you know if I do.

Dan M, a fellow I coached in early 80s -- a fellow world traveler -- wrote to report:

Mark, sounds like you are having a great time.

I'm sorry to belatedly tell you I was in Pittsburgh to visit my mom a
few weeks ago and played water polo with the Pittsburgh team at North Park pool against Cleveland. Some guys I played with at Chartiers Valley in the 70s have reinvigorated the program and are doing a great job developing age group players who they sent to JOs in California.

Have a great trip. Enjoy the water polo. Other than the U.S., I'm hoping Montenegro wins gold in water polo. It would be a great achievement for a brand new country and I think they have a good shot to do it. What a
fantastic story that would be.

Hi Dan,

Next time you are in the burgh and don't let me know -- I'll be sad all over again.

Yes, the NA polo players are doing very well.

08/08/08 07:28 AM, EDT
BEIJING -- On Friday morning, Lopez Lomong sat before a room full of journalists and was asked to tell his story. Twenty-six minutes later, he stopped. And if this constitutes the longest press conference soliloquy that many in attendance had ever heard, it was also scarcely long enough to embrace Lomong's remarkable young life.
