This month's Allegheny County Libertarian Meeting - tonight

Hope to see you, if interested, around 7 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Ritter's Diner on Baum Blvd. in Pittsburgh. The Allegheny County Libertarian chapter meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7:00 P.M. All are welcome to attend. For more information, see the site, http://www.LPPGH.org.

On the other hand, the Dems in the area had a candidates meeting tonight (Tuesday) at the Serb Hall. However, their meeting was closed-door. It only welcomed those of the Dem committee in certain wards.

I feel that closed door meetings leading to a closed primary is fitting for a city that is bankrupt and moving to empty in terms of its people.

The meeting tonight was not closed door to everyone.

I am a member of the 20th Ward Democratic committee and I was able to walk right in and talk with my candidates.

No joke. If it was closed door to everyone, then nobody would be there.

It was open only to the D party cronies = committee people.

It was closed to everyone else in the world.

Again, not true.

If you mean closed as in "I'm in another party but I want to speak to yinz" then yes it was closed.

But there wasn't anyone at the door keeping anyone out who weren't committee members.

Good to know Matt. Thanks.

Of course that "over stepping" of a welcome isn't what I'm about. But, it is nice to come around and see who's who and what is being said.

Thanks for setting the record straight.

Mr. R. you are a scholar and a gentleman. Never nasty or rude in your posts, unlike other neighborhoods of the burgosphere.

I don't always agree with you.. But sometimes I think that if we had OPEN primaries I could actually cast a vote for you. Perhaps not for mayor, but for council to start? But other times I have to wonder?

Anyhow, this meeting was open to the public. Here is the link and schedule. Stop in and visit the candidates in the future. You may be surprised to meet like minded people in the audience.

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes, I have visited the D's calendar page. I would love to attend more meetings in the days and weeks to come. Good to see explicit invites that the public is welcome.

Thanks for that.
