Pop City - The Underground Music Scene

In an article about 'underground music' the URA sponsored newsletter gives pointers to the Three Rivers Arts Festival and Hartwood Acres.
Pop City - The Underground Music Scene Sometimes, your cost is completely zilch at outdoor shows at the Three Rivers Arts Festival (in Point State Park, Downtown) or at Hartwood Acres county park, ...
Cutting edge.

By the way, the millions of dollars that are being spent at Point State Park for a few ditches and more electrical juice to the deep-friers are costly, -- not FREE.

Blast from the past of a clip from the radio about socially conscious music.

Friendship House Concerts is proud to present

Anne Feeney

Sunday, March 11

4:00 PM

It's Women's History Month and St Patrick's season ... so we've asked
one of our favorite Irish feminist folksingers to provide us with a
very special afternoon of music. Just back in town from tours of the
Pacific Northwest and Texas, catch this award-winning activist before
she heads off for Florida.

Pittsburgh-based agitator Anne Feeney performs music that she says is
designed to "comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable." Not
many women have chosen to walk the path of Woody Guthrie, but Feeney's
made a career of it for the past 35 years. She has lived her life on
the frontlines – performing at thousands of rallies, picket lines and
demonstrations over the years. Feeney's bottomless songbag draws on
Irish, bluegrass, traditional, labor, pop, folk and contemporary
material. She's as likely to sing a traditional song or an obscure gem
by one of her many friends in the singer/songwriter circuit as she is
one of her own award-winning songs.

While Feeney may prefer the excitement of performances at rallies and
demonstrations, she knows that many of her fans prefer pepper-spray
free environments to listen to the songs and stories that make up her
sometimes caustic, sometimes hilarious, always inspiring show.
