As the new year-and with it, a fresh season of Republican campaigns-begins in a few weeks, there will be some changes at the RCAC headquarters as we prepare for 2005's important county, city, and local elections.
Mike O'Connell agreed earlier this year to serve as the RCAC's Executive Director until the end of the year, concentrating his efforts on the presidential campaign and ensuring that our Republican message was heard in the local media. We thank him for his service and wish him well in his new endeavors.
Our local party's growing strength was illustrated by the number and variety of strong candidates to succeed Mike in this important role.
I am very pleased that Eileen Watt has agreed to serve as our new Executive Director. Many of you will remember Eileen's service as political director at the RCAC, which brought a new emphasis to building and strengthening our local Republican committees, particularly in areas where there had not been active Republican committees in recent years. Eileen represents a heavily Democratic district on the Allegheny County Council, a position she won with the same emphasis on grass-roots campaigning that brought us Republican victories this year and which will be even more important in next year's local elections. Eileen in an alumna of the Anne Anstine program and is
both well-known and well-regarded by party leaders throughout the state.
Also departing from headquarters for the private sector is the RCAC's Political Director, Mike Dolan, who has worked in our office for the last three years. He will be greatly missed, and we wish him all the best as well.
I hope to see you at our holiday party on Wednesday, December 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Sports Rock Café, 1400 Smallman Street, in Pittsburgh's Strip
District. This will be a great chance to express your thanks to both Mikes and to welcome Eileen back to the RCAC.
Bob Glancy
Chair, RCAC
