I called in and we talked after a great tutorial on the deed transfer tax. This is a very important issue to the city. Jerry said, "The devil's in the details." Good point. We should be getting rid of this tax as a top priority. Meanwhile, the city is going in the exact wrong direction.
Some who know these things would say, and I agree, that this is the worst tax in our "mix."

I was on not long after Mark's excellent comments.
All of City Council showed that they are obtuse when it comes to economics, and more specifically, the economics of buying a home in a city as troubled as Pittsburgh.
As a full-time Realtor in the city, I'll find a more difficult time selling houses in all of Pittsburgh's 90 neighborhoods, and nearly impossible for the $50,000-$100,000 home buyer.
What incentives do first-time home buyers now have to purchase in the city? I'll be working on that answer.
